New Moms, Armpit Fat and Dark Underarms

One of the concerns that new moms have after they have their little bundle of joy is how to regain their pre-pregnant body. And one of the embarrassing problems that moms get from pregnancy is dark underarms. Adding to the multitude of body changes such as weight gain and pregnancy mask, dark underarms can lower  new mom’s self-esteem.

Armpit fat is an unavoidable occurrence because carrying a baby can let you add more body adipose tissue which can sometimes rest on your armpits. This can create constant friction in the armpit area which can eventually result to darkened underarms. Hormonal changes can also have a hand to play in this which only aggravates the problem.

If you want to get rid of your flabby armpit then you may start changing your diet. Although it is important to remain in a healthy diet because you will need this in weaning and in being able to care for your baby. Talk to your primary care physician, gynecologist or a dietician to work out a healthy diet plan which gives you the nutrients that you need while at the same time help you to shed some pounds.

It would be advisable for you to avoid foods that are high in fats and carbohydrates such as pizzas, burgers and French fries. Opt for healthier options such as fruits and vegetables, they help you keep the weight off and these also energize you better.

You should also be very careful with your use of salt because this can cause you to retain water which would only worsen your problem.

Eating right should also be coupled with proper exercise if you want to get rid of your armpit fat. Sometimes exhaustion can get the best of you which can lead you to forgo exercises, but try to start with simple passive range of motion exercises to prepare your body for activity.

In order to localize the effect of your exercise to target the problem area, it would be best for you to perform arm exercises. Easy ones that you can start with include arm rotation and arm lifting. Doing this repeatedly for a period of time can prevent the accumulation of fats in the armpit area.

As the months progress, allow yourself to increase your level of exercise, or if you are already an exercise enthusiast, an elliptical machine is suggested by experts. Doing this for at least two to three times a week can already create significant change. Give yourself some rest days in between to avoid stressing out your recuperating body.

Another excellent way to burn armpit fat is to go swimming. In fact this is one of the preferred exercises by new moms to burn the pregnancy weight. The arm movements can certainly reduce stored fat while improving your stamina and heart health at the same time.

Your clothes can also aggravate your dark underarm problems. Instead of polyester or synthetic clothing, cotton would be much preferable. This is less irritating to the skin which also reduces friction.

Sometimes underarm darkening can resolve on its own, while others remain. For those stubborn armpit stains you can use simple solutions such as rubbing a slice of lemon or a baking soda and vinegar paste on your underarms. Doing this regularly can eventually lighten this area after a period of time.
