Facial and Body Hair Removal Techniques for Men

Back in the day, hair removal is something only for the ladies. But it seems that the turn of the tides is leading men to go to these lengths when it comes to grooming. Some do it for work-related purposes, while others simply want to get rid of their body hairs.

Experts say that requests are not really on getting rid of all the hairs, but they just want it trimmed and thinned out. If you also want to get rid of the untidy hairs and replace it with smooth and flawless skin, here are some hair removal options that you can follow.

Depilatory Creams

These substances come in a creamy lotion form which is applied to the area to be treated. Unlike your ordinary lotion, it dissolves the proteins in the hairs which cause them to loosen and then shed off. Just to be on the safe side, dermatologists suggest that before slathering the cream all over the problem areas, perform a patch test first. This is to check for any sensitive or allergic reactions since the chemicals in it can be rather harsh.

Once the cream is applied, you’d have to let it sit for 5 minutes, but usually the entire process can be done and over with in under an hour.

You can do it on your own using home kits available for $10-$20, or you could go for salon treatment which could run around $25-$50.

Electrolysis

This hair removal technique is rather advanced and requires careful precision because it involves a very thin needle in order to penetrate individual hair shafts. Once the hair is in place inside the device, tiny shocks of electricity are delivered which damages the cells that make up the hair. A lot of men find it to be rather uncomfortable. For genital areas in particular, a local anesthetic could help make the procedure much more tolerable.

The entire procedure my last around 10-20 minutes but the result will be permanent. However, depending on the amount of hair that you want to be removed, it can take a year of weekly treatments to get the entire area done.

It can work for each part of the body, but to make it easier on the part of the patient and for a thorough quality of work, it is best to start with the small areas first.

This procedure could cost up to $40 or more depending on the extent of work to be done.

This Laser hair removal makes use of light energy to penetrate and destroy individual hair shafts. The results of this procedure can be permanent with just a typical 30-minute treatment. For a complete hair removal result, 8 sessions may be needed which run around $400-$500 per treatment.

Waxing

This hair removal technique is considered to be the easiest to do and the most common. You can have it done professionally at a salon, or you could simply do it yourself using kits which you can purchase in department stores.

The usual material that is used are honey-based waxes that are rather sticky. But it is really helpful in thoroughly removing the hairs. Today soy waxes are available which comes in a creamy lotion form. When applied on the skin, it sticks only to the hairs. And just like traditional waxing, strips of cloth are applied over it and allowed to dry before it is abruptly removed. The entire procedure takes about ten minutes to an hour depending on the area that is being covered.

For this type of hair removal measure, men usually ask for whole body treatment, or something focused on the chest area, or male Brazilian wax.

Example of salon in Manila that offers Brazilian waxing for men is Pink Parlour
